George Walton Academy's and Tattnall Square Academy's matchup on Saturday was close at halftime, but George Walton Academy turned on the heat in the second half with 38 points. The George Walton Academy Bulldogs put the hurt on the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans with a sharp 62-40 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

George Walton Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leila Mathis led the charge by going 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. That's the most points Mathis has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Lora Kate Malcom, who went 9 for 14 en route to 19 points and three steals.

Mathis wasn't the only one working in the assists department: George Walton Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. George Walton Academy is a perfect 3-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

The win was the fifth in a row for George Walton Academy, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. As for Tattnall Square Academy, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.
