After flying high against the Hancock Panthers last Thursday, the Northern Huskies came back down to earth. Northern took a 65-47 bruising from Mountain Ridge on Monday. If Northern hoped to take revenge for the 70-42 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Breighner led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. Breighner hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen McGeady, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Northern has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Northern won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fort Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Fort Hill will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Keyser at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Keyser focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
