Basketball Recap: Bolton Piles Up the Points Against Brighton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bolton). They blew past the Brighton Cardinals 69-33 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

It was another big night for Analeticia Valasquez, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and ten steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was I'Mari Pointer, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Brighton's loss came despite strong showings from Rihanna Wilson and Akayvia Joshua. Wilson went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and six steals, while Joshua had four points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wilson a new career-high in points.

Bolton's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-2. As for Brighton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Bolton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-22 victory against Raleigh-Egypt on the 11th. As for Brighton, they will square off against Dyer County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dyer County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
