Softball Recap: Haverford Wins Going Away Against Upper Darby

The matchup between Haverford and Upper Darby on Tuesday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Fords put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 13-6 win. The Fords might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Sam Wolf made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Haverford let Kelly Shindler and Ali Daly run wild. Shindler went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Daly went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Daly has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Lucy Ardizzi was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Haverford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Darby only posted a batting average of .185.

Haverford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Darby, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13-1.
