Basketball Recap: Donahue Catholic's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Donahue Catholic entered their match against Golden Gate on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The game between the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks and the Golden Gate Titans didn't end well, with the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks falling 66-52.

When it comes to explaining why Donahue Catholic lost, don't look at Isaac Loboda. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. The contest was Loboda's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Corban Copeland, who posted 12 points.

Loboda wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Donahue Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Gate only posted four assists.

It was another big night for Sam Powell, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 28 points and eight boards for Golden Gate. That makes it six consecutive games in which Powell has scored at least a third of Golden Gate's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Orville Salomon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Donahue Catholic's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Golden Gate, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.

Donahue Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Golden Gate, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Loyola Academy at 9:00 a.m. Golden Gate is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
