After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barrington, the Jacobs Golden Eagles were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 win over Grant Community. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jacobs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Jurzak, who scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Treval Howard, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Jacobs' win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Grant Community, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Jacobs will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Crystal Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024. As for Grant Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Antioch at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
