There's no place like home for Weslaco East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Donna Redskins with a sharp 14-1 win on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Alanah Bautista was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jessica Salazar was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Weslaco East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Weslaco East has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Weslaco East is set to challenge their familiar foe Porter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.2, the Cowboys 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Donna will square off against rival Harlingen South at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
