Oak Hill is 8-2 against Mountain Valley since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Raiders will challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Oak Hill beat Spruce Mountain 9-4.
Izzy Whitaker made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Whitaker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlee Austin, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Emma Dubois was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Mountain Valley hadn't done well against Madison recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the game before.
Like Oak Hill, Mountain Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Libby. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Libby was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddy Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ali Mazza, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory got Oak Hill back to even at 1-1. As for Mountain Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went Oak Hill's way against Mountain Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Oak Hill made off with a 15-2 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
