The Gross Catholic Cougars pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Boys Town an easy 84-63 victory. Gross Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-30.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boys Town to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nyree Poteet, who scored 23 points along with six assists and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Darien Whitaker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Gross Catholic are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4. As for Boys Town, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Bishop Neumann the next time they take the court. Gross Catholic will host Bishop Neumann on Tuesday, while Boys Town will host them at 7:44 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
