The Eaglecrest Raptors will face off against the Castle View Sabercats at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eaglecrest comes in on 27 and Castle View on eight.
Eaglecrest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Mountain Vista, who was ranked 13th at the time (Eaglecrest was ranked first). The Raptors blew past the Golden Eagles 3-0 on Saturday.
Eaglecrest got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 30-28, 25-21.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Castle View walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles on Friday.
The victory didn't come easy: Valor Christian scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 25-20.
Eaglecrest better keep an eye on Talus Frederick. He was instrumental in Castle View's win, getting 23 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Frederick has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hanchett, who had 19 assists and three digs.
Castle View's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Eaglecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 25-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Eaglecrest has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Castle View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Eaglecrest got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2024 against Castle View by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabercats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
