The Hancock Eagles will challenge the Hubbard Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hancock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Kennedy hit Hancock with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Hubbard got the win against Little Village on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Greyhounds have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Thiago Monarrez and Ricardo Romo made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Monarrez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Romo kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Monarrez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Romo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Michael Duran was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Juan Cahue, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Hubbard's victory bumped their record up to 11-4-1. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hancock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Hubbard struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hancock beat Hubbard 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
