The Addison Knights will head out to take on the Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Addison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Addison will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Canisteo-Greenwood on Wednesday. The Knights blew past the Chargers 18-10. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Isabella Seiger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Seiger was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those hits marked the first that she got this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Seiger, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Watson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour didn't have quite enough to beat Edison on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The loss put an end to the Storm's undefeated start to the season.
Paige Ells spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Brianna Hatch was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia King, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour fell to 2-1. As for Addison, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Addison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
