The Tanque Verde Hawks will face off against the Coolidge Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Tanque Verde's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
If Tanque Verde beats Coolidge with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Hawks put the hurt on Desert Christian with a sharp 13-2 victory on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Jace Ridgway made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ridgway was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Payne, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Landon Walker, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Coolidge hadn't done well against Blue Ridge recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bears walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Rayge Eby looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Riley Hamilton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Baca, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Tanque Verde's win bumped their record up to 4-1-2. As for Coolidge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tanque Verde has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coolidge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tanque Verde got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Coolidge by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
