Basketball Recap: HEARTS for Jesus Christ Piles Up the Points Against First Baptist Christian

There's no place like home for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the First Baptist Christian Sabres 73-25. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead HEARTS for Jesus Christ to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Aten, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Aten has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Elsesser, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.8 points. As for First Baptist Christian, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. HEARTS for Jesus Christ will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Varsity Opponent at 7:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025. First Baptist Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Lake Ridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
