The Redmond Mustangs will challenge the Hazen Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Hazen will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Redmond extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Juanita 7-5. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Ravens on their field since March 28, 2018.
Lance Burt made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Redmond's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Burt was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Lawson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Isaiah McMahan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hazen hadn't done well against Liberty recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Highlanders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted against the Patriots since April 21, 2022.
Logan Grossnickle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.
On the hitting side, Joey Rubino was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Troy Paternoster was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Redmond back to even at 6-6. As for Hazen, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Redmond might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Hazen in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
