Spring Mills and Berkeley Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will welcome the Indians at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Spring Mills' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Keyser with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Cardinals have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Spring Mills got a great performance from Jacob Cumley as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Anders, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Spring Mills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Aiden Eichelberger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Spring Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keyser only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berkeley Springs). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Oak Glen on Saturday.
Kyle Moore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Berkeley Springs let Kyle Rankin and Shawn McCumbee run wild. Rankin scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while McCumbee scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Rankin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon McClintock, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Spring Mills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. Berkeley Springs' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-14.
Berkeley Springs' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Spring Mills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Berkeley Springs, though, as they've only averaged .168. Will they be able to contain Spring Mills' hitters?
Spring Mills skirted past Berkeley Springs 7-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
