AAA Region 2 recap September 10, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Trent Davis and Juan Sims connected against Eastside. The connection was good for 72 yards, the longest such play in AAA Region 2 this season.
Pike County scaled the state rankings by moving to 156 from 201 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of beating First Presbyterian Day 30-0.
Peach County's dynamic duo of Greg Williams and Tyler Gibson proved to be unstoppable against Baldwin, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns and Gibson had 149 yards receiving.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Williams and Gibson proved tough for the Braves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
De'Eric Bell was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 82 yards as Jackson lost to Baldwin. Teammate Jatavian Tyson added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.
Williams put up the best numbers in passing as Chad Campbell's team lost to Jesse Hicks' team.
Delvin Andrews was a key player and the best on defense this week as Southwest lost to Howard. The 6-foot-0 junior.
He was 17-28 with 0 interceptions.
Gibson was the best receiver in AAA Region 2 this week as the Trojans lost to the Braves.
Peach County's Williams and Gibson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 449 yards this season, while Gibson has 13 catches for 222 yards. Bell from the Red Devils leads the league in rushing with 95 yards.
Pike County took down the Vikings 30-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
