Softball Recap: J.Z. George's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

J.Z. George came into Monday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Leake Central Gators on Monday by a score of 15-14 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Jaycee Ellett was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Tysalyn Meeks was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-4.

J.Z. George always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

J.Z. George's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Leake Central, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

J.Z. George and Leake Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. J.Z. George (ranked 161st) will meet Sebastopol (ranked 20th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. J.Z. George is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, Leake Central will take on Newton County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 120 places (150 vs. 30). J.Z. George has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
