Holly is a perfect 9-0 against Springfield since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Holly is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
Holly came out on top against Wiley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Wildcats have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Coy King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. King was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Holly's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jerry Holdren, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
Holly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Springfield lost 15-4 to Elkhart on Thursday. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Carter Barnes was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Holly's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Holly has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .515. However, it's not like Springfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Holly took their victory against Springfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-5 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
