The Parrish Community Bulls meant business on Tuesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Hurricanes squad that has allowed just 28.7 points per contest. Everything went Parrish Community's way against Manatee as Parrish Community made off with a 60-38 victory. The win was just what Parrish Community needed coming off of a 60-35 loss in their prior match.
Parrish Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mary Portwood led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Portwood set a new season high mark in assists with seven. Sarah Decker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Parrish Community pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Manatee, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parrish Community will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Palm Harbor University at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Manatee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shorecrest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
