After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crown Point, the Hartford Central Tanagers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-42 victory over Salem. That's another feather in the cap for Hartford Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Salem still got an impressive performance from Josh Harrington, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Harrington's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Ethan Hickland was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
The victory got Hartford Central back to even at 4-4. As for Salem, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartford Central will take on Warrensburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warrensburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hartford Central in New York (Warrensburg is ranked 261st, while Hartford Central is ranked 575th). As for Salem, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hadley Luzerne at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th.
