Softball Recap: Morgantown Beats Preston for Their Third Straight Win

Morgantown entered their tilt with Preston on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Knights 10-2. Considering the Mohigans have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on KIRA SMITH, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MADI STONE, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Morgantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Preston only posted a batting average of .273.

Morgantown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Preston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgantown will take on Steubenville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Preston, they will face off against Elkins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
