After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Portsmouth West, the Eastern Eagles were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 37-29 victory over Western. This was payback for Eastern, who suffered a 48-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Breleigh Tackett and Lauren Ware certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Tackett scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Ware scored nine points along with six rebounds. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her.
Eastern's victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Western, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will take on South Gallia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Western, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Oak Hill at 6:30 p.m. on January 8th.
