 Taylor Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 25 batters over  11 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-5.
 Smith wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Abagayle Shives, who  went 3-for-5 with one  RBI.
Catoctin now  has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Middletown, they now  have a losing record of 1-2.
 Looking ahead,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as Catoctin Cougars  duke it out with  Walkersville Lions on Wednesday. As for Middletown, they will take on Governor Thomas Johnson on Thursday.
