The Coupeville Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the LaConner Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Coupeville waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 64-59 victory over Orcas Island. Given Coupeville's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Orcas Island is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, LaConner's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 82-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Mason. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (68), LaConner still had to take the loss.
Coupeville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for LaConner, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Coupeville couldn't quite finish off LaConner when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 63-61. Can Coupeville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
