Basketball Recap: Asa Parker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hampton over Union Grove

After a string of three wins, Hampton's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to the Union Grove Wolverines 54-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-45 back in December of 2024.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asa Parker, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Josh Smith, who scored nine points.

Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Union Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Hampton will take on Jones County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Jones County: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Hampton has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Union Grove, they will host Eagle's Landing Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eagle's Landing Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Union Grove likes a good challenge.
