After flying high against the Northside Patriots last Saturday, the Hardaway Hawks came back down to earth. Hardaway fell just short of Westover by a score of 55-52. Hardaway found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up nine fewer assists than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Hardaway lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Lamell Mims. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Benton, who scored 11 points.
Among those leading the charge was Bryson Carter, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Greg Williams was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
Hardaway's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Westover, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.
Hardaway will head out on the road to face off against Shaw at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shaw will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Westover will take on Cairo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cairo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
