1A-2 Region II District 8 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Munday extended the longest winning streak in 1A-2 Region II District 8 this week by beating Era, 82-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Moguls.
Munday took down the Hornets 82-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dee Paul threw for 110 yards and one touchdown and ran for one yards in the win.
Patrick Corcoran's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Roddrick Taylor chipped in 104 yards. Trey Stinnett helped Munday's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
LJ Collier was the best wideout in the league this week as the Moguls bested Era. Collier tallied three receptions for 72 yards.
Munday's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Moguls feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Paul has thrown for 1022 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Collier has 13 catches for 314 yards. Taylor leads the league in rushing with 934 yards.
The top two teams in 1A-2 Region II District 8 will face off this week when first place Munday takes on second place Electra. Last week, Munday beat the Hornets, while Electra topped Perrin-Whitt.
The Moguls' Taylor is a mere 66 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
Electra made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,770 from 8,897. The advance stemmed from a 21-14 victory over the Pirates last week.
