Aiken and Western Hills are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Aiken Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Western Hills Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Aiken's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
Even though Aiken has not done well against Woodward recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Aiken came out on top against Woodward by a score of 75-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Aiken's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from James Burnett, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Burnett has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. Jaiden Arnold was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists.
Western Hills has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Woodward by a score of 69-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), Western Hills still had to take the loss.
Aiken is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Western Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
Aiken was able to grind out a solid win over Western Hills in their previous matchup back in January, winning 75-65. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aiken since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
