With a playoff win on the line, Westminster rose to the challenge on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Fillmore Flashes as they made off with a 14-8 win. Considering the Lions have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Chelsea Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alyna Guerrero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Naomi Miranda was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs.
The victory (which was Westminster's sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Fillmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Westminster wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-7 victory against El Monte on the 21st. Fillmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
