The Fresta Valley Christian Pioneers will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Ridge Christian Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fresta Valley Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Fresta Valley Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 31-26 to Mountain View Christian Academy.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ridgeview Christian on Monday, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. Given Blue Ridge Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Ridgeview Christian is ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Faith Brunk led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Callie Paradzinski was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Fresta Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Blue Ridge Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Fresta Valley Christian ended up a good deal behind Blue Ridge Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, losing 38-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Paradzinski, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
