The Classical Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Sierra since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Titans will host the Stallions at 3:30 p.m. The timing is sure in The Classical Academy's favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Sierra has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
The Classical Academy will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Coronado on Saturday. The Titans put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 17-4 win. Considering the Titans have won nine contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jackson Finn looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on CJ Mullen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zack Hale, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Sierra lost 31-1 to Woodland Park on Monday.
Rodrigo Marquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for The Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Sierra's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: The Classical Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Sierra, though, as they've been averaging 11.7 hits. Given The Classical Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Stallions will need to find a way to close that gap.
The Classical Academy took their win against Sierra in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
