It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Freedom Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Colonial Forge at home to the tune of 52-16. The victory was just business as usual for Freedom, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Freedom to victory were Tristan Evans-Trujillo and Jeffrey Overton. Evans-Trujillo threw for 289 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, while Overton rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry. Evans-Trujillo is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Carleton juju Preston also helped out with an impressive 125 receiving yards.
Freedom pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 56.4 points. As for Colonial Forge, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.
Freedom will face off against Battlefield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Battlefield will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Colonial Forge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
