Baseball Recap: Oasis Academy Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Oasis Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Yerington Lions with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Bighorns have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryder McNabb was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fenn Mackedon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Trevor Barrenchea was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oasis Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Oasis Academy pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.7 runs. As for Yerington, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Lions beat Oasis Academy by a score of 7-5 later that day.
