It was a good run, but the Onalaska Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Crockett at home by a decisive 70-51 margin. Onalaska has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Onalaska's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Joy Cariaga, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Alora Pinkert was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Crockett got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Naomi Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 24 rebounds. Taylor is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tania Davis, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists.
Onalaska's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-14. As for Crockett, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Onalaska will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Waverly is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Crockett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Longhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarkington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1221st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 545th).
