The Lovejoy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Morrow, falling 73-42. While losing is never fun, Lovejoy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Morrow is ranked 90th).
Morrow got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikayla Dunston out in front who scored 33 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Dunston has scored at least 25% of Morrow's points. J?Bionn Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight steals.
Lovejoy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Morrow, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Lovejoy will be playing at home against Alcovy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alcovy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Morrow, they will head out on the road to face off against Quality Education Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
