It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jonesport-Beals had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Schenck Wolverines 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Aspen Alley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Melody Gray and Makayla Merchant did most of the damage at the plate: Gray got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, while Merchant went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Jonesport-Beals hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Looking ahead, Jonesport-Beals will challenge Penobscot Valley on Thursday. The Howlers will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. Schenck does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
