The Zane Trace Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Unioto, falling 73-20. While losing is never fun, Zane Trace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while the Shermans are ranked 50th).
Unioto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Milee Smith, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnolia Holbert, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Zane Trace dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Unioto, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zane Trace will challenge the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Westfall has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. As for Unioto, they will head out on the road to challenge the Ironman/Ironladies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
