Arcata has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Del Norte Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arcata will be strutting in after a victory while the Warriors will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Arcata didn't have too much trouble with the Loggers at home as they won 67-49.
Arcata found their leader in underclassman Luke Lemke, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Lemke is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Lucian Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Del Norte's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. Their rough 64-43 defeat to Fortuna might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Del Norte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 844th, while the Huskies are ranked 298th).
Arcata is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Del Norte, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.
Everything went Arcata's way against the Warriors when the teams last played back in January as the Tigers made off with a 62-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arcata since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
