Garrison is 9-1 against Woden since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Garrison Bulldogs will face off against the Woden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Garrison will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Garrison's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Shelbyville by a score of 5-0.
Not much got past Dallas McFadden, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Shelbyville off the board. That's the fewest hits McFadden has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Garrison's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Travis Burkhalter, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Burkhalter also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another was Andrew Curbow, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Woden made sure to put some runs up on the board against San Augustine on Friday. Everything went Woden's way against San Augustine as Woden made off with a 14-0 win. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 20th.
Brayden Dichard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Brayden Bridges was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Landon Nerren was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Woden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Garrison pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Woden, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-3.
Garrison took their victory against Woden in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garrison since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
