After a string of four wins, the Salome Frogs's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost to Antelope at home by a decisive 69-51 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Salome of the 63-44 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Salome still got an impressive performance from Jibran Castillo, who scored 24 points. Castillo hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Jovany Calderon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Kenan Ragels continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Antelope, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Ragels pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alizay Figueroa, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Salome's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Antelope, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Salome will head out on the road to challenge River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. River Valley is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Antelope, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maryvale Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
