The Perquimans Pirates will head out on the road to take on the North Pitt Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Perquimans is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Perquimans beat North East Carolina Prep 59-48. The victory was just what Perquimans needed coming off of a 75-29 defeat in their prior match.
Jalyn Nelson and Nyquan Riddick were among the main playmakers for Perquimans as the former dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 19 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Riddick scored 15 or more points. Shavoris Lewis Jr. was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Pitt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. The matchup between them and Ayden - Grifton wasn't particularly close, with North Pitt falling 68-53. North Pitt has not had much luck with Ayden - Grifton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Keymauri Brooks, who scored 17 points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarcus Pippens, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Perquimans' win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for North Pitt, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.
