Overton dropped down to 5-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell  44-34 to the Loomis Wolves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Friday (33), the Eagles still had to take the loss.
 Overton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Eli Luther, who threw for 342 yards and five  touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Luther didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss). Another player making a difference was  Dawsen McCarter, who picked up 225 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs.
As for Loomis, their victory was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 6-2. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 58.0 points over those games.
  Jace Schukar was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 164 yards and four  scores, while also catching one  touchdown. Loomis is undefeated when  Schukar posts 80 or  more  rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.  Graham Trompke was another key player, throwing for 158 yards and a pair of  TDs on only nine passes.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Overton will host Elgin/Pope John  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Loomis, they will be playing at home against Cambridge  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
