Softball Recap: Wicksburg Makes It 17 in a Row at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wicksburg walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Providence Christian Eagles with a sharp 15-0 win on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won 27 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sarah Turvin was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Tylaya Lingo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wicksburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Wicksburg's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 41-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-17-1.

Providence Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-2 victory against Slocomb on the 28th. Hopefully Wicksburg paid attention to the Eagles' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Eagles on Tuesday.
