There's no place like home for the Mastery Charter North - Pickett Pumas, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Maritime Academy Charter 70-43 at home.
Mastery Charter North - Pickett found their leader in underclassman Jacob Mitchell, who scored 21 points. The matchup was Mitchell's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Creary, who scored 15 points.
Despite the defeat, Maritime Academy Charter had strong showings from Jaseer Mann, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Zibri Miller, who scored six points along with ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mann scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jadin Aviles, who scored five points.
Mastery Charter North - Pickett now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Maritime Academy Charter, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mastery Charter North - Pickett will be home for the holidays to greet String Theory at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Maritime Academy Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at 3:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
