The Lake Travis Cavaliers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Brennan Bears at 3:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lake Travis extended their postseason success on Friday against Johnson. They blew past the Jaguars 48-21 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lake Travis just coasted through the last quarter.
Nico Hamilton had a dynamite game for Lake Travis, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Chaston Ditta, who rushed for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Brennan had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They put the hurt on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo with a sharp 36-14 win. Given Brennan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brennan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micai Thompson, who rushed for 71 yards and three touchdowns. Jason Love also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Lake Travis to 10-2 and Johnson to 10-2.
Lake Travis ended up a good deal behind Brennan when the teams last played back in November of 2022, losing 34-17. Can Lake Travis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
