Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Atchison Phoenix walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 50-27 margin over Eudora. The victory was just business as usual for Atchison, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Atchison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Carter, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Another player making a difference was Jaden Carter, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
Atchison's win was their sixth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Bonner Springs and 1-8 Wyandotte (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.9% over those games). As for Eudora, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Atchison will play host again and welcome Tonganoxie, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tonganoxie is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. Eudora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
