Marathon has been on the road for five straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Greene Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Marathon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Oxford Academy by a score of 63-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Greene waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Bainbridge-Guilford 37-20. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Greene has scored all year.
The victory got Marathon back to even at 3-3. As for Greene, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Marathon didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Greene when the teams last played back in January of 2016, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Greene's Katie Carey, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Now that she won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Marathon to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
