The Richmond Red Devils put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 54-49 victory over Madison. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Madison is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richmond's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braiden Hogg, who scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Hogg scored 15 or more points. Cedric Horton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Despite the loss, Madison still got an impressive performance from Quincy Reynolds, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of ?scar Gonzalez, who scored six points.
Richmond pushed their record up to 16-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Madison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will take on New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Palestine has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 564 points over their last eight games. As for Madison, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Rushville at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Rushville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday.
