The Bremen Lions will square off against the South Bend Adams Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bremen has four straight wins, South Bend Adams has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bremen barely beat Tippecanoe Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 18-11 victory on Saturday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Jace Pippenger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Williams, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Bremen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, South Bend Adams came up short against Homestead on Saturday, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.
WESSON HOKE made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Bremen's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for South Bend Adams, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.
Bremen's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Bend Adams, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bremen continue to outrun the ball?
Bremen suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to South Bend Adams in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
